Your kids will be breaking up for the school holidays very soon but here are some ideas for lunch time when they go back in September. If you’re tired of buttering sandwiches every day and want to give your little ones something a bit more exciting and healthier, here are some great ideas by Emily from A Mummy Too.

The first top tip is to invest in one of those nifty little compartmentalised lunchboxes. They’re inexpensive and mean you can really mix it up when it comes to lunch time. We might have labelled these ‘kids lunch box ideas’ but they work just as well for you too if you’re in the habit of taking lunch to work.

Instead of sandwiches and crisps you can pop in leftovers from the night before like veggie pasta, fajitas or cous cous. Another good way to get your kids eating one of their five a day is to chop up carrot sticks and add hummus in another section so they can dip away (everyone loves dip).

Not only can you fill these clever little boxes with savoury food but you could do a sweet version as well, with chopped fruit and yogurt. There’s no need to banish your kids favourite big lunch box because these little ones will fit inside alongside their break time snacks as well.

They’re a little bit like those lunchables that come with cheese, ham and crackers but much, much cheaper.
