George at Asda is an ever expanding section of Britain’s lowest price supermarket. Founded in 1989, the first line of clothes unveiled were the brain child of George Davies, the founder of Next.
The inspiration around George at Asda was to provide clothes that had amazing value away from the high street, yet still keep them of good quality and with all the latest styles.
Davies left the fold in 2000 shortly after the WalMart take-over. Unfortunately he is no longer associated with ASDA or the George brand. However this has not slowed the company down.
WalMart loved the George collections so much that they introduced them into their stores worldwide. You can now grab a great George bargain from Canada and the USA as well as China, Argentina and India to name a few.
Currently the brand offers ranges in men, women and children’s clothes. You can find everything from fancy dress to slippers. Along with must have basics and beautiful evening wear. A range of cosmetics is also available.
Even your wedding is sorted as ASDA became the first supermarket to offer wedding dresses from George for as little as £60. The range of suits from George are also extensive and in many cases extremely good value for money.
2008 saw the rebranding of George. This ensured they had a lovely new look for their first venture into the online world. This was a rip roaring success, George is now the fourth largest clothes retailer in the UK. Behind only the top three giants, the Arcadia Group, which encompasses big high-street stores such as Topshop and Miss Selfridge, Marks and Spencer and of course Next.
Although there is no stores that are dedicated to George alone, you will find them in all of the Asda supercentres and superstores. So you can conveniently shop for school uniforms or a Friday night dress alongside your weekly food shop.
Most recently ASDA has been opening new ASDA living stores which focus on all the non-food lines. Of the 5000 or so stores in the UK only a handle of the smaller one will be missing George.

Opening hours and Contact information
One of the best things about George being situated in ASDA stores is that this means they have longer business hours than most clothes retailers. Result. The website is up and operational all day, every day.
A great deal of the larger Asda store now open on a 24 hour basis also. This means the store will open at 8am on Monday and will not close until 9/10om on Saturday night. Sunday hours are usually 10am until 4pm.
Smaller stores still have long opening times. The majority of stores will open at 7am until 10/11pm on weekdays and Saturdays with the same Sunday times as the larger stores.
These times do vary and with over 500 stores across the country it would be a good idea to locate the store finder on the ASDA website just to check so you don’t get disappointed.
