breaking-bad-header

Methamphetamine. Not something you would associate with a terminally ill chemistry teacher. That’s the direction Breaking Bad takes you.

Following the life of a dying man who’s willing to go to extreme lengths to leave his family enough money to live on after he’s gone, you’ll be pleased to meet, Walter White.

Widely recognised by any self-respecting 90s kid as the ‘Dad from Malcolm in the Middle’, Brian Cranston’s Walter White has become an extraordinarily iconic character. His rapid development, from school chemistry teacher to megalomaniac meth producer, over 5 glorious and critically acclaimed seasons will have you hooked.

Essentially, Walter White gets the C word and worries that he’ll leave his family without a bean to their name by the time they’ve scraped the money together for his expensive medical bills. He uses his knowledge of chemistry and a freak meeting with an ex-student-come-drug-dealer to form a mobile meth lab.

Problems solved?

Hardly.

As expected, getting involved in the world of hard drugs would never be a smooth operation. Walter White and his young apprentice, Jesse Pinkman, are soon in way over their heads. So do you cut your losses and go back to being a chemistry teacher?

Or do you continue to produce the most pure methamphetamine the market has ever seen and take on a bad ass alias?

So long Walter White. Hello, Heisenberg...

As seasons continue and hearing Jesse say the word BITCH a few hundred times, the pair come across crime bosses, drug smugglers and rival crystal meth manufacturers.

Heisenberg develops a taste for power once he realises how good he is at his new-found profession, all the while avoiding the attentions of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration), whom his brother-in-law has a major role in.

After several power plays and some major manipulation, including explosive dramas with his wife, the eternally annoying Skylar; things begin to unravel. Helping Walt and Jesse keep things together though is the larger than life lawyer, Saul Goodman.

If you need money laundering or problems fixing, you better call Saul.

Like all good stories, they must come to an end. And what a final season this show had. With Walt’s secrets revealed for the world to see, scenes escalate to unimaginable levels of tension. It’s safe to say that Heisenberg’s legacy will continue to live on, long after his end...

Science Bitch!

Fun Fact: Walter White’s family home in Breaking Bad is an actual family home. A lady called Fran has lived there since 1973 and has even had to complain about the amount of pizzas being thrown onto her roof! The scene in question shows a ridiculously stressed out Walt, throwing a takeaway pizza onto his roof. Fans have travelled to the house, armed with pizzas, to re-enact the scene.
