Early Learning Centre is a British chain and one of the largest toy shops in the UK. They create and sell awesome toys which are used by children to encourage social activity and vital development to ensure they get the best start in life. Their mission is to ‘help children grow into happy, self-confident people.’
All the toys are made by global brands such as Fisher Price, Disney, Playmobile and Leapfrog just to name a few. Early Learning Centre also have their own branded collections including Cars 2, and Fireman Sam action figures.
All the products in which they sell gets tested in the same way kids test them. By throwing them, hitting them, chewing them, and pushing them down the stairs to make sure that everything is safe and intact for a child’s use.
ELC started in the mid 1970’s when they launched their first store opening and designed toys with the aim to: ‘Help children explore the boundaries of their imaginations and creativity, to make learning fun and help them be all which they can be.’
When children and adults visited the store, they had a massive selection of toys which could be taken out of the box and played with. This was so parents could see which toy their child warmed to and could handle.
As this was a huge victory they have now included this within their 215 stores across the UK and in their 80 international stores in 19 countries which the business has successfully expanded to. Australia, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates just to name a few.
In 2001 the launch of their website was available for customers to browse and buy off. They also decided to start selling their products in shops such as Debenhams, Boots and Sainsbury’s.
The year of 2007 saw the company get purchased by Mothercare for a whopping £85 million. They have continued with expansion and world domination by opening a further 100 stores in concessions with Mothercare stores.
