Miss Selfridge is a clothing retailer with British roots and was first launched in 1967 and began as a young fashion section within the department store of Selfridges in London. Few years later they had concessions throughout the UK as well as standing alone stores on the high street.
They extended what they were selling to clothing collections with dresses, skirts, jeans, tops, embellished occasionwear, shoes, accessories and lots more. In 1978 they were the first fashion retailer to launch their own makeup range.
1999 saw them become part of the Arcadia Group which is owned by Sir Philip Green which also includes retailers such as Topshop, BHS, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Burton and Topman. There are now over 200 Miss Selfridge stores offering fashionable styles, and clothing which is slightly different.
The customers are in the heart of everything which they do. They listen to their wants and needs through emails and social media sites. They aim to give back something unique which other fashion stores don’t. Their aim is to inspire with vintage pieces and modern ones, bring different materials from all around the world and create something special. Their goal is to create ‘distinctively feminine, flirty, fun and contemporary style for fashion aware women.’
The company was the first store to use model Kate Moss in their advert campaigns and have continued to use successful familiar faces throughout the year to drive them to success. These being Naomi Campbell, Tess Daly, Yasmin le Bon and Nicole Scherzinger just to name a few.
Miss Selfridge has always been a popular high street brand since birth and despite its different ownership and the changes through the past decades, it’s kept its brand, power, passion and reputation intact.
Miss Selfridge Ethical Policy
