O’Neill’s is a well-established Irish-themed chain of pubs, found here in the UK. There are 49 of these popular pubs across the UK, except for Northern Ireland. Founded in 1994 in the not-so Irish city of Aberdeen, Scotland, the chain has flourished.
During the pub’s first two years of business, the O’Neill’s brand had spread like wildfire, with 52 pubs open across the UK by 1996. Thanks to a large investment by the chain’s owner, Bass, at least one O’Neill’s pub was being opened every month in a new location. However, by the end of 1996, an O’Neill’s pub was opening every week!
At their peak, Bass had over 250 branches of their sure-fire hit open somewhere in the UK. While this has reduced over time thanks to economy and change in market, the popular chain of pubs are still thriving today.
Each O’Neill’s establishment’s intention is to provide a happy, friendly atmosphere. Your night will more than likely include Irish music, food from an Irish inspired menu and drinks; including Irish classics Guinness, Jameson’s whiskey and Irish cream favourite, Baileys.
O’Neill’s has proven particularly popular during certain times of the year, drawing huge crowds up and down the country. They’ve recorded a staggering 71,000 pints of Guinness being sold on St. Patrick’s Day alone! Whichever O’Neill’s you end up in, you’ll always be able to enjoy the craic!
The lively pub are also renowned for their support of sport. During big sporting events, you’ll notice your local O’Neill’s will be covered in the appropriate decorations, both inside and out. Showing live sport, from rugby and football, to Gaelic football and hurling; O’Neill’s promises big screens, free flowing drinks and a jubilant atmosphere.
O’Neill’s Irish-themed food menus have been keeping customers tummies full for years now. Their legendary “unfinishable” breakfasts are a thing of beauty for anyone with a big morning appetite. With traditional Irish dishes like their stew and cobblers, there’s something hot and hearty for every taste.
Immerse yourself with the feel-good Irish theme by visiting an O’Neill’s which has some live music on. There’s usually some cracking acts on, covering all kinds of genres including Irish folk, indie and more. Dance, laugh and have a good craic.
