June 2014 – Thomas Cook have noticed a spike in the number of holiday makers now that England are out of the World Cup. Roy Hodgson’s squad which included the likes of Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Joe Hart amongst the ranks, failed to qualify for the last 16 and out of the group stage.

Defeats to Italy and Uruguay had already sealed their fate before the Three Lions had played their last group game against Costa Rica. Thomas Cook reported that people browsing for a summer break sent traffic volumes through the roof and doubling the level they’d recorded to the week prior.
