Moss Bros was established in 1851, in a quiet section of Covent Garden, London. The two shops were founded by Moses Moss, who started selling quality second hand clothes in the beginning.
After Moses passed away in 1894, the stores were handed down to Alfred and George, two of his sons. They began to grow the business into the prestige suit company that we all know today.
In 1897, the two sons started their very first suit hire service; the Moss Bros Hire Service is now found in nearly every high street store in the UK, as well as online.
The company has seen an incredible amount of growth since the 1800s and is now one of the most recognisable suit retailers in the country. Moss Bros have hundreds of stores, including their flagship store in Regent Street.
Launching online in 2009 helped to further the Moss Bros business even more, providing a service to international customers as well as in the UK. Their launch of a collect+ service, in 2011, continued to grow the customer base even more.
With over 160 years of British tradition and heritage, Moss Bros has become a favourite for people from all walks of life; including celebrities. A wide range of designers and products ensures a solution for everyone's budget.
Some of the big names that work with Moss Bros include French Connection, Ted Baker and Calvin Klein. Luxury brands, such as Canali and Cerruti, are also names that the company sell and promote.
In 2012, Moss Bros launched a new brand to celebrate their rich history. The Moss 1851 collection focuses on British elegance and high quality suit fabrics.
Today, Moss Bros sells a wide range of suits, shirts, ties and accessories on an international basis. They also stock some casual clothing and holiday attire, by the same brands as their suits.
The Moss Bros suit hire is still going strong, with thousands of suits a week being hired out during peak season. From weddings to proms, their suit hire covers all types of event.
The focus on their strong heritage, good quality and affordable prices has ensured Moss Bros as one of the top suit retailers in the world. Especially now with their international delivery options.
Moss Bros provides free standard UK delivery, with no minimum order spend, along with their free click and collect service. There are also a wide range of paid options, including international delivery.
How to find the perfect fitting suit at Moss Bros
Depending on your height, size and how broad you are, depends on what size and style suit you should have. Some helpful hints and tips though to find the best-suited one for you are the following:
1. Your shoulder hits the seam of the suit with no room left at the side.
2. If you can fit one fist up your suit then that is the correct size. If 2 can fit then it's too big, and if you can't fit one then it's too small.
3. The last button should not be done up.
4. The sleeve of the suit should meet the wrist bone.
5. The trousers shouldn't be tight around the legs, they should just hang nicely with no slouch above the shoe.
